Istiqlal Mosque Not Providing Parking Lot during Christmas 2019

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the ongoing major renovation, Istiqlal Mosque Jakarta will not provide parking service for people attending Christmas mass 2019 at Cathedral Church, which is located adjacent to the country’s largest mosque.
“This year will be different because Istiqlal is undergoing renovation so people willing to pray in Cathedral cannot park in the mosque,” said the mosque spokesman Abu Hurairah in Jakarta, Thursday, December 19.
People, he added, could perhaps park their vehicles on the side of the roads, yet the area will be limited.
According to Abu, his side had informed the matter to the church management days ago. This unavailable service had also been warned when they planned to celebrate National Youth Pledge Day (Sumpah Pemuda).
However, Abu said his side will continue to help maintain the security as usual and Christians are allowed to use facilities in Istiqlal Mosque. “Hopefully, the condition will be back to normal next year,” Abu said.
