KPK Asks DPR to Reconsider the Establishment of Supervisory Board

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy head Laode M. Syarif demanded the House of Representatives (DPR) reconsider the formation of the supervisory board.
“It is a supervisory board, but it has the tasks to issue warrants for wiretapping, seizure, and searching,” said Syarif during a hearing meeting with the DPR Commission III at the DPR complex, Wednesday, November 27.
Syarif underlined that the anti-graft body submitted a material test of the revised Law to Constitutional Court. “We as the main shareholder are not asked for opinions. No letters from both the government and the parliament sent to us,” he added.
The amended Law has been valid per October 17, 2019, in which requires investigators to obtain a wiretapping warrant from the supervisory board.
Based on the government’s problem inventory list, the supervisory board will be established by the president. However, until the law is taken into effect automatically, with or without the signing of President Jokowi, the board structure has not yet to be set.
