TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned toll operator PT Jasa Marga ensured that the Jakarta-Cikampek elevated toll roads will be functional during this year’s end holidays. However, it will not be fully operable as the tariff has not yet set.
“Jasa Marga commits to open the elevated toll road functionally during Christmas and New Year holidays,” said the corporate’s spokesman Dwimawan Heru in Cikarang, Wednesday, November 20.
He said Bina Marga Directorate General and the Toll Road Authority (BPJT) under the Ministry of Public Works and Housing are still discussing the system operation of the 39-kilometer toll roads.
According to Dwimawan, the opening of the toll roads is expected to help the traffic flow as it is predicted to increase during the holidays.
Jasa Marga calculated that the hike in the traffic heading to the east will reach 10.79 percent starting December 20 to 24. “The construction [of the toll road] is ready to serve for vehicles of group I,” Dwimawan added.
The elevated toll road, which begins from Cikunir conjunction until West Karawang, is aimed at alleviating congestion along Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.
