TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Government is eyeing to complete its national strategy to develop artificial intelligence (AI) in 2020 after the Research and Technology Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro admitted that it was not yet included in the national roadmap but was only part of the country’s preparation toward the industrial revolution 4.0.

“I have asked the ministry to formulate it,” said Bambang in the Indonesia Economic Forum held in Kuningan, South Jakarta on Wednesday.

Bambang hopes that this line of development will be able to support Indonesia’s social development and economy, starting from its healthcare sector, cyber security, up to the processing industry.

The development of artificial intelligence is only one of five sectors on the Ministry’s focus apart from the development of Internet of Things, Advanced Robotics, augmented reality, up to 3D printing. However, only AI development is included in the national strategy.
