BPS: Exports Up 5.92 Percent in October

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Indonesia's export at US$14.93 billion in October, or up by 5.92 percent from September. On a yearly basis however, October's export value is down by 6.13 percent.
"The value of exports fell compared to the same period last year. The challenges ahead are very tough and we have to think about policy measures," BPS chief Suhariyanto said in his office, Jakarta, Friday, November 15.
He said non-oil and gas exports in October 2019 was US$14.01 billion, up 5.56 percent from the previous month but lower by 2.48 percent compared to October 2018.
Cumulatively, Suhariyanto said, the value of Indonesia's exports from January to October 2019 reached US$139.11 billion, down 7.80 percent, year-on-year (yoy).
Based on the origin of goods, Indonesia's largest exports in January to October 2019 came from West Java with a value of US$25.31 billion (18.20 percent), followed by East Java with US$15.56 billion (11.18 percent), and East Kalimantan with US$13.75 billion (9.89 percent).
