TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Surakarta Police Resort has increased the security measures in the vicinity of President Jokowi’s house in Sumber Solo, Surakarta, Central Java, following the suicide bomb at the Medan Police Headquarters earlier today, Nov. 13.

“The security in the area is heavily layered that corresponds with the standard operating procedure,” said Surakarta police Chief Andy Rifai in Central Java.

The triple-layered security measures include the president’s first perimeter that is guarded by the presidential security detail (Paspampres), and the outer second and third perimeters are guarded by joint police and army personnel.

As previously reported, a bomb exploded at Medan City Police Headquarters this morning, November 13. The bomb went off at around 08:45 at the building on HM Said Road, Medan City, North Sumatra.

The National Police Headquarters suspected that it was a suicide bombing incident. Preliminary investigations suggest the bomb was carried by two people wearing online hail-ride bike jackets. The suicide bombers are presumed to have been killed by the blast.

The Surakarta Police also announced that they have greatly involved the role of intelligence as the city had also witnessed a suicide bombing attempt at the Surakarta Police headquarters in 2016.
