TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Education, and Cultural Affairs Minister Nadiem Makarim mentioned that many people have formed a wrong perception of technologies applied in the education sector.
“Many have the wrong perception about it, [they think] with me as a minister would shift everything into an application,” said Nadiem in the Parliamentary Complex on Wednesday.
The GoJek founder mentioned this in his meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission X members. In front of the legislators, Nadiem maintained that his focus coincides with the president’s vision on creating competitive human resources among many other programs the ministry plans to implement.
Nadiem asserts that the interaction happening between students and teachers in education’s traditional term cannot be replaced. Asked about the public opinion believing that Nadiem will bring his application platform into Indonesia’s education sector, he responded light-heartedly; “That is pretty funny.”
“Technology will never be able to replace the connections. Because the best lesson is due to strong inner-connection that leads to the feeling of trust. That is the key,” said Nadiem Makarim.
He elaborates that technologies that will be applied in the education sector in the future will be a tool to support, not replace, what is now physically happening in schools and homes.
