Amazon Web Service to Establish Indonesia Data Center in 2021

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Amazon Web Service (AWS) Indonesia Country Leader Gunawan Susanto confirmed that the firm is set to establish a data center in Indonesia by the end of 2021. This follows the announcement that saw Jakarta appointed as one of AWS’s new operations in the Asia Pacific region.

“Jakarta has become one of Amazon Web Service’s new region that will hone three availability zones with each having at least one data center,” said Gunawan at the AWS Media Briefing in South Jakarta on Monday, November 4.

The AWS in the Asia Pacific region can be found in Singapore, Sidney, Tokyo, Seoul, and Hongkong, while globally it has 22 regions with 69 availability zones.

“In the future, coinciding with Jakarta, Milan, and Cape Town will become a new Amazon Web Service region,” he said.

AWS ASEAN Senior Technical Evangelist Donnie Prakoso says that the presence of three availability zones in Jakarta will certainly be advantageous for its Indonesian customers by offering a plethora of data, scalability, up to high fault tolerance.

This effectively offers AWS customers, which comprise of Kumparan, Halodoc, Grab, Traveloka, Kredivo, Elevenia, Zalora, DBS Bank, Iflix, and Sociolla, with 160 features that can be utilized such as safety features, data storage, up to IoT and Artificial Intelligence.
