TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - General Motors (GM) has officially announced its plans to withdraw from sales activities in the Indonesian automotive market by the end of March 2020. This decision was announced by GM Southeast Asia's president Hector Villarreal on Monday, October 28.

The Detroit-based manufacturer said that it was not an easy decision, but they eventually decided to focus on the existing markets that they have acquired and acknowledged the lack of market in Indonesia.

Hector Villarreal said that globally GM has taken difficult steps to focus its assets and resources, which were consistent with GM’s global strategy to focus on markets that have “clear paths” to reach sustainable profits.

Other factors behind the withdrawal include commodity prices and pressures of foreign currencies. However, he asserted that General Motors would continue to provide after-sales services for Chevrolet customers at its outlets across Indonesia.

Chevrolet Indonesia announced it was set to provide its utmost services for its customers and had opened a line for those requiring further information at 1500 951 or www.chevrolet.co.id.
