TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that hot weather will continue to occur for the next coming week.

"Until the next seven days high temperature still potentially occur, especially in Java, Bali, West Busa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and Sulawesi," said Chief of BMKG Public Meteorology Center Fachri Radjab on Saturday, October 26, 2019.

Hot weather condition is common during the final period of the dry season. The hot weather is caused because of the sun's position which is close to the equator, which leads to maximum radiation of sunlight.

At the same time, the air mass hovering over Indonesia, especially the southern part, is originated from Australia, which is hot and dry.

This hot and dry air resulted in less formation of clouds. With less cloud, the sun light falls directly on to the earth surface and increasing the overall temperature.

Whereas, in September, the sub is positioned close to the equator and will continue to move to the southern hemisphere until December 2019. Therefore, on October 2019, the sun's position will be around the southern Indonesian territory, which is South Sulawesi, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and other regions.

BMKG noted that within the last 24 hours, the highest temperature observed by the BMKG reaches up to 38.8 degree Celcius in Jatiwangi, Cirebon. The record high temperature was recorded on October 24, 2019 in Ciputat, reaching up to 39.6 degree Celcius.
