TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi plans to visit Papua this week to check the post-riot situation in the easternmost province of Indonesia.

"Of course to see the activities [there] following the rioting in Jayapura, Wamena," said Public House and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono at the Presidential Complex in Jakarta, Thursday, October 24.

Basuki admits he has yet to receive the schedule of the president's first visit after the inauguration of his second term in office. A number of director-generals at his office have flown to the location earlier.

Previously, the minister went on, President Joko Widodo reportedly will firstly visit Sorong or Jayapura before heading to the next destinations; Ambon and Palu.

According to Minister Basuki, the president's visit to the eastern regions of the country will last until Tuesday next week. Widodo is also planned to monitor the development of Holtekamp Bridge construction.

Holtekamp Bridge or Red Bridge is a partnership project between the central government - through the PUPR Ministry, Papua Province Government, and Jayapura Regional Government. The project that is executed by a consortium of three companies costs a total of Rp1.3 trillion.
