Presidential Inauguration Security Guarding Starts Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - TNI Commander in Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto announced that the security measures for the presidential inauguration takes effect today, 17 October, until the 20th.

Hadi made the announcement today after leading a morning assembly attended by thousands of joint officers of the Indonesian National Police at Monas, Central Jakarta.

"Thirty-thousand security apparatus will be deployed. They have been given tasks according to the security pattern," Hadi said.

The Marshall added there would be three rings of security inside the parliament building, in building parking lot, and in the area in front of the parliament building.

In the parliament building, the Presidential Security Detail [Paspampres] teamwho would stand guard. "In ring two, there is the TNI. In ring three, there are joint forces of the TNI, Polri, and related stakeholders," he said.

The TNI-Polri will be in charge of guarding the president and vice president as well as their families, state guests, foreign guests, and special envoys. They will be escorted starting from their arrival to the parliament building to their return to respective hotel or guesthouses.

The TNI Commander has also instructed all personnel to secure the Glodok and Jembatan Tiga areas in West Jakarta.

"Including Soekarno Hatta Airport and Halim Airport, PLN Gandul, and Pertamina's logistics warehouse," Hadi said.
