TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Finance announced that it will soon issue a number of policies specifically to demolish illegal textile imports and products related to it classified as TPT. One of which is by mobilizing state intelligence agency.

The ministry’s customs and excise director general Heru Pambudi said his ministry will work in immediate conjunction with the directorate-general of taxation. Intelligence services will be utilized in areas involving the importers’ identification numbers (API-P).

“They could merely claim themselves as producers but would eventually sell the raw items to the open market and not sell them to SMEs as it is initially listed,” said Heru at the directorate-general of taxation office in Jakarta on Monday.

Moreover, Heru said that the two-state entities will be conducting joint analysis for importers of TPT and study the firms that claim to be what they are, compared to the company's import values.

“The firms all have financial reports. We can determine from that whether the reports they present are reasonable or not,” said Heru.
