TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra deputy chairman Arief Poyuono has declared that his party’s possibility to join Joko Widodo or Jokowi’s coalition reaches 98 percent. The party led by Prabowo Subianto has almost certainly got close to the government.

Even so, the party will come into conclusion and announce its official political stance during its national meeting or Rakernas, which is slated on October 15-17. “The decision will be taken during Rakernas,” said Arief as quoted from Koran Tempo of today’s edition.

The party has also prepared two cadres to join the cabinet of Jokowi - Ma'ruf, namely Edhy Prabowo and Fadli Zon. The two are considered the best, experienced cadres in the sector of the economy, agriculture, and governance.

Pak Prabowo realizes that he must appoint best, trusted cadres to help the government. But it is all up to President Jokowi,” Arief said.

An informant for Tempo, who is exposed to the process of the cabinet formation, claims that Gerindra will likely clinch at least two ministerial seats. He also confirms the candidate names are Edhy and Fadli, each of them will be Agriculture Minister and Home Affairs or Defense Minister, respectively.

Arief reiterates that Edhy and Fadli are already included in the priority list of prospective ministers. The experiences of Edhy in leading Commission IV overseeing agriculture and Fadli as the House Deputy Speaker of government affairs are the main consideration. "There is no doubt on Edhy and Fadli," he added.

By the time of writing, both Edhy Prabowo and Fadli Zon have not responded yet to Tempo's request for confirmation. However, the two said on several occasions that they will abide by whatever decisions and assignments given by Prabowo Subianto.
