TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has promised that he will visit Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, in November to inspect the area development of the new capital city.
“In early November, I will come to Penajam Paser Utara, but I ask Pak Regent to drive,” said the President during a video conference with Penajam Paser Utara Regent Abdul Gafur Mas’ud, Monday, Oct. 14.
During the conference, Abdul Gafur claimed that East Kalimantan people agree and are enthusiastic about the President’s decision to tap the regency as the country’s new administrative center.
“People and all administrations of Penajam Paser Utara Regency are grateful and ready to be the new capital city, but the roads need repair,” the regent said.
Abdul Gafur went on to say that there are several areas in the regency that have not seen any development. Therefore, he invited President Jokowi to come and directly inspect the region that would become the new capital city of Indonesia.
