TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police (Polri) Spokesman Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo assures that the inauguration of President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has been rescheduled not due to existing security concerns.

“People’s Representative Assembly (MPR) Speaker, Bambang Soesatyo, has mentioned that [the inauguration will be moved to the afternoon] in respect to Christians that attend Church in the morning,” said Dedi at the Polri headquarters in South Jakarta Thursday.

The MPR initially planned for the president and VP’s inauguration on Sunday morning of October 20th. IT has been moved to 14:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on the same day and will be held at the Parliamentary Complex.

In terms of security personnel stationed throughout the inauguration process, authorities will deploy 27,000 joint personnel from the Indonesian Police and Armed Forces (TNI). They will be stationed in central and critical areas throughout Jakarta.
