TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train operator, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), will set the tariff of class 2 at Rp300,000 per ticket. The train, targeted to cut travel time from 180 minutes to 46 minutes, will provide three classes, namely VIP, class 1, and class 2.

KCIC CEO, Chandra Dwiputra, said that the tariff was set after considering people's purchasing power. The regular train ticket for Jakarta-Bandung is around Rp150,000 until Rp300,000 with the travel time or around three hours. The KCIC views the Rp300,000 tariff per person is relevant.

"So it's around Rp300,000 for class 2," he said at the coordinator ministry for economic affairs office on Tuesday, October 1.

Chandra is optimistic that the train would be operational in 2021 despite several obstacles such as land acquisition and electricity infrastructure relocation.

He reassures that 50 percent of the infrastructure will be met in December this year. KCIC claims the process is reaching 35 percent.
