575 Members of DPR 2019-2024 Officially Inaugurated Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Members of the House of Representatives (DPR) have officially been inaugurated today, October 1. A total of 575 councilors will perform duties as the people’s representatives for the next five years.
The inauguration ceremony taking place at the Plenary Meeting 1, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, is led by two temporary leaders Abdul Wahab Dalimunthe and Hillary Brigitta Lasut as the oldest and youngest lawmakers, respectively.
DPR Secretary-General Indra Iskandar reads the Presidential Decree regarding the members’ inauguration. After that, they take the oath under the guidance of the Supreme Court (MA) Chief Justice Hatta Ali.
President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Vice President-elect Ma’ruf Amin attended the ceremony. The fifth Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri and several parties’ chairman including Airlangga Hartarto from Golkar and Surya Paloh from NasDem also presented.
