TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The anti-corruption civil society coalition announced that it plans to meet the Indonesian representatives to the United Nations upon discussing crimes that involve corruption eradication in the country.

“Through this meeting, a letter will be handed to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and inform about the attempts to weaken the Indonesian anti-graft agency (KPK) that is currently being done by the Indonesian government and the House of Representatives (DPR),” says Muhammad Isnur, the Indonesian Legal Aid Institute (YLBHI) Head of advocacy.

By sending a letter to the UN secretary, the coalition hopes to highlight the crisis that sees the weakening of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to the global scale.

The closed meeting at the UN’s United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is initiated by the Transparency International Indonesia, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) and the YLBHI.
