TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Agus Rahardjo has declared that he entrusts the responsibilities of the anti-graft body to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Agus said KPK's board of leaders was forced to do so in the wake of ceaseless attempts to clip the KPK's wings.
“KPK is blocked from every side,” said Agus during a press conference in the front yard of the KPK Merah Putih building, Friday, September 13.
Agus opined measures to amend the Law No. 30/2002 concerning the KPK are among the examples of the attempts. Moreover, KPK has never been involved in discussions about the draft revisions.
“We are deeply worried, perhaps it is true [that they] are willing to weaken the KPK,” Agus remarked.
Therefore, Agus has decided to hand over the KPK's duties to President Jokowi. “We are waiting for an order whether we are still trusted until December and then maintain our operations. Hopefully, we will be called for talks,” he added.
