TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - City bus operator PT Transportasi Jakarta or Transjakarta is set to open new service routes following the implementation of the expanded odd-even policy. The route addition is aimed at attracting people to take public transportation.

“The new routes will surely become a stimulus for the public to convert to public transport,” said the corporate spokesperson Nadia Diposanjoyo, Wednesday, September 11.

Nadia explained the route expansion will involve minibusses or Mikrotrans or commonly known angkot, which has joined the firm management. She added the new routes will ease the Jakartans to reach stations, MRT, LRT, or bus shelter.

As for the new lines of Mikrotrans, Nadia said the intensive discussion is still afoot. “Because we still need to survey the bus stop points and others. We have to prepare for it before opening new routes. We will announce it when it’s complete,” she said.

Transjakarta recorded an increase in its passenger number on the first day the expanded odd-even policy implemented. The figure reached 892,000 passengers. In April, before the traffic policy took effect, the highest number was recorded at 773,816 passengers per day. The president director Agung Wicaksono expressed optimism that the figure will touch 1 million in line with the route expansion.
