TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The operation of Jayapura Port in Papua has returned to normal on Tuesday, September 3, post the Papua unrest that broke last week.
"As for now, the situation at the port is safe and sound," said Jayapura port authority chief (KSOP) to Tempo, September 3.
His office maintains the coordination with the marine squad of TNI's Navy, the Police, and the locals. Mirza said that they will impose the ISPS code if an emergency situation occurs.
Previously, the port was affected by the rallies that turned into riots last week. The port operational, especially the container section, was temporarily forced to stop for 24 hours following attacks from protesters.
The masses burned and destroyed several office buildings in the city, such as the Customs office and Telkom Jayapura office. They also blocked the roads. As a result, the Police deployed more personnel from its mobile brigade or Brimob to Papua.
