TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A consumer Zico Leonard Djagardo Simanjuntak filed a lawsuit against PT Solusi Transportasi Indonesia or Grab Indonesia at Central Jakarta District Court today, September 3. Zico’s lawyer David Tobing said his client did not receive a prize in the form of Rp1 million OVO credit as promised by the ride-hailing company.

“Grab that does not give the prize as promised to Zico is against the law,” said David in a written statement, Tuesday, September 3.

Zico demanded the Malaysian-based firm pay Rp1 million for material losses and Rp2 billion for immaterial losses, as well as publish an apology in two printed media, namely Harian Kompas and Bisnis Indonesia.

He reiterated that Zico deserved to get Rp1 million OVO credit after completing the Jugglenaut challenge posed in the application. It had also given a notification that Zico was entitled to the prize.

The challenge in question requires customers to use 74 services within a month. However, Zico never received the credit. After being examined, the company suddenly changed its terms and conditions about the eligible recipients for the prize.

Therefore, it violated Article 18(1g) and Article 13(1) of the Consumer Protection Law (UUPK). “Grab revises the regulation unilaterally.”

“Many consumers are possibly harmed by the act, which allegedly meets the criminal element based on the UUPK and Criminal Code (KUHP),” David said.

The suit is registered under number 527/PDT.G/2019/PN.Jkt.Pst. Zico also sued Communication and Informatics Minister (Kominfo) as the Second Defendant for not leading and monitoring Grab Indonesia so that it beset consumers.
