TEMPO.CO, Balikpapan - Telecommunication operator firm PT Telkomsel stated its readiness to welcome the relocation of the capital city to East Kalimantan that has been finally announced by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as the new administrative hub.

“We are ready to escort the government in building Kalimantan as the new capital of Indonesia,” said corporate president director Emma Sri Martini, Monday, August 26.

Emma claimed her corporate had developed telecommunication infrastructure throughout the archipelago, and Kalimantan Island up to the nation's border areas had become its network development priorities.

She added the firm had built 17,800 units of base transceiver station (BTS) across the island–11,700 of them were BTS broadband that covered 90 percent of the island’s population. “Our 62 call center offices or Grapari are also ready to serve customers in Kalimantan,” said Emma.

The provider implemented the latest broadband technology, 4.9G Massive MIMO, through its 4 BTS units located in Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan), Balikpapan (East Kalimantan), and Tarakan (North Kalimantan). The technology was said to furnish better service quality.

Therefore, Emma committed to continuously developing digital technology in Kalimantan. She added that her corporate’s visions and missions were in line with the national sovereignty to accelerate the country’s development.

“A capital city is a country’s vital symbol. As Indonesia's capital city is relocated to Kalimantan, which is geographically the country’s border region, Telkomsel as a cellular operator will also strive forward along with the government,” Emma said.
