TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Java Police set to investigate the act of persecution and racism during the raid in Papuan university students dormitory, Surabaya, East Java on August 16, 2019.

“Yes, we will surely examine that act,” said East Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Frans Barung to Tempo, Tuesday, August 20.
If the TNI personnel are proved to have spoken racist words, the police will submit the case investigation to the institution. “To the Military Regional Command,” said Barung.
The act of persecution in Papuan students dormitory in Surabaya allegedly triggered a series of rallies that turned into a riot in Manokwari and Sorong, West Papua.
The riot caused severe damages in several public facilities, including West Papua Legislative Council (DPRD) building, an airport, and penitentiary in Sorong City.
