TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During the MPR annual session today, August 16, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi reminded all state institutions to not be easily complacent with their last year’s achievements.

He also appealed to all institutions to not being anti-criticism. “We should not be allergic to criticism. No matter how harsh it is, we have to accept it as a form of our concern, so we can work harder to meet the people's expectations,” said the President at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Friday, August 16.

In a democratic country, he added, differences between individuals, groups, or even state institutions were inevitable.

“However, diversity is not our reason to despise each other, not our reason to harm each other, or even eliminate others,” he remarked.

Should such diversity be managed in the same great vision, he went on, it will create a dynamic power to reach Indonesia Progress or Indonesia Maju.

“I call on all state institutions to build a powerful synergy to complete our historical task. To join hands and face threats of intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism, as well as generate more supreme human resources who will bring progress to this country,” Jokowi underlined.
