TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The air quality in Jakarta has improved on Monday morning, August 5, after a long-hour power outage on Sunday. The city’s air quality score successfully dropped to below 100.

According to AirVisual.com, accessed at 07:30 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), the air pollution score put the capital city’s rank decreasing to 19th place.

The air quality forecaster, AirVisual, recorded the city’s air quality as ‘moderate’ based on the US Air Quality Index (AQI), or at 79, with PM2.5 parameters and 25.5 µg/m3 concentration.

However, there are three areas with the worst air quality. The top polluted area is Rawamangun, East Jakarta as it scored 165 with 83.2 µg/m³ concentration.

Then it was followed by Kemayoran, Central Jakarta at 156 with 65 µg/m³ concentration and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry - Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Central Jakarta at 153 with 59 µg/m³ concentration.

There is no clear line between the power outage and the improvement of air quality in Jakarta this morning, August 5. However, the blackout that is still occurring in several areas caused people to refrain from heading to work and so some capital’s road looked quieter than normal.
