TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Astra International together with Indonesian ride-hailing company GoJek is currently testing an electric-powered moped with the Honda PCX Electric to further promote an environmentally friendly lifedata-style.

The collaboration is also the pilot project for electric vehicles in Indonesia operated under Gojek’s banner, which is meant to gather information on the effectiveness of electric motorcycles in replacing the vehicles used by app-based transportation services.

In the end, it is hoped that this project would become a reference for future developments and researches of EVs.

Paulus Bambang Widjanarko, Astra’s Director, said the collaboration is the result of two national enterprises actually working hand-in-hand to reach a common goal. With Astra’s experience in the motorcycle industry and GoJek’s on-demand tech platform that eventually integrates the EV into GoJek’s ecosystem.

“Chosen GoJek drivers will serve customers with this Honda PCX Electric provided by Astra in the test run conducted in Jakarta,” said Hans Patuwo, GoJek Chief Operations Officers.

Jakarta has been under the spotlight for several past weeks in terms of the pollution it has produced.
