Kaimana, West Papua Hit by Earthquake

TEMPO.CO , Sorong - An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale rocked Kaimana Regency, West Papua Province on Friday, at 05:57 Eastern Indonesian Time (WIT). The quake reportedly did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami.
The natural event occurred at 4.01 degrees south latitude and 133.96 degrees east longitude, or 44 kilometers southeast of the regency and at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Geophysics Station in Sorong.
When studied from the epicenter and the hypocenter, the quake was categorized as a shallow one caused by active cesarean.
By the time the report is published, BMKG did not record any aftershocks. The public is appealed to remain calm and not affected by groundless information.
