TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Energy Minister Ignasius Jonan launched 13 electricity infrastructure projects on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Ten of the projects are in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and three are in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Minister Jonan was accompanied by West Nusa Tenggara Zulkieflimansyah Governor and PLN acting director Djoko Rahardjo Abu Manan. The ceremony took place at the Sumbawa Gas Power Plant (PLTMG) complex.

The projects include the constructions of power plants and the Sumbawa Electricity Toll project.

"With these projects, electricity infrastructure in NTB and NTT will become more reliable," Minister Jonan said.

The new power plants are expected to increase electricity supply capacity. Meanwhile, with the operation of the 461-kilometer Sumbawa Electricity Toll Road will connect the electricity systems of Sumbawa and Bima.

The power plants can provide electricity to approximately 286,000 families. In addition, their operation has the potential to reduce the basic costs of generating power by some Rp18.02 billion per month.
