Kivlan Zen Accompanied by TNI HQ Legal Team in Today's Pretrial

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - May. Gen. (Retired) Kivlan Zen, who is suspected for allegedly having illegal firearms, will face his pretrial in South Jakarta District Court today, July 22.

The lawyer Tonin Tachta said that his client will be accompanied by the legal team of Indonesian Military Headquarters (Mabes TNI). “Today’s hearing is with a joint legal team from Mabes TNI and two civil lawyers,” said Tonin in a short message.

Other than Tonin and Ananta Rangkugo, Kivlan will be defended by 12 members of Mabes TNI legal team, Cilangkap, East Jakarta.

They are May. Gen. Purnomo, Brig. Gen. Wahyu Wibowo, Col. Subagya Santosa, Lt. Col. Mesra Jaya, Lt. Col. Marimin, Lt. Sutarto Wilson, Lt. Purwadi Joko Santoso, Col. Azhar, May. Dedi Setiadi, May. Marwan Iswandi, May. Ahmad Hariti, and May. Ismanto.

According to Tonin, the trial will kick off at 13:00 Jakarta time, different than the schedule issued by South Jakarta District Court at 09:00.

Kivlan Zen, through his lawyer, filed for the pretrial to the court on Thursday, June 20 following Kivlan’s suspect naming in the illegal possession of firearms case. The appeal was registered at No. 75/Pid.Pra/PN.JKT.SEL.

During a hearing on Monday, July 8, Tonin debated the judge Guntur Ahmad who decided to reschedule the pretrial on Monday, July 22, considering the day nears the end of the detention period of his client.
