TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Functional Group (Golkar) party Andi Sinulingga, said that his party has proposed five names as ministerial candidate for elected President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's future government. Andi said that the names have been provided some time ago.
"The names have been delivered since long. And has been with Pak Jokowi. All party has provided names," Andi said on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
Andi was reluctant to mention the names proposed by Golkar. He claimed that it is the party's secret. However, he did not deny that the name of two Golkar cadres currently in Jokowi's cabinet, will return among the proposed names.
The names were Agud Gumiwang Kartasasmita and Golkar Party Chairman Airliangga Hartarto. Agus currently serving as the Social Affairs Minister while Airlangga sits on the Industrial Minister chair.
Andi said that five is a realistic number. "Later if Pak Jokowi said 'why only five', then we will provide more. Better than providing more, but only getting less [position, it is better to be realistic," Andi stated.
Previously, a high ranking official at the Golkar Executive Board had also mentioned that there are five names to be proposed as ministerial candidate. The five names are Airlangga Hartarto, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Ibnu Munzir, Zainuddin Amali, and Dedi Mulyadi.
The Golkar Party was one of the earliest party to show their support to Jokowi to run for the second term. Currently, under President Jokowi's government, Golkar had placed three ministers. In addition to Airlangga and Agus, there is Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan who is the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, and Nusron Wahid who occupies a position at the National Agency for the Supervision and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI).
