TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - NasDem Party secretary-general Johnny G. Plate openly expressed his wishes to see political party coalitions – in support of Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno – to stay as oppositions.
He maintained that the winning parties should be within the government whereas the losing parties should take the role as the country’s opposition.
Johnny also openly asked opposition camp to not be tempted to join Jokowi’s Cabinet; “I fear it would turn into a stand-up comedy if everyone enters the Cabinet,” said Jhonny to Tempo on Thursday, July 11.
The House of Representatives' (DPR) financial commission member maintained that it would be a weird scene for two opposing parties that have relentlessly attacked each other politically, suddenly unite. “It would be a joke, what would the public say about that.”
Regarding NasDem Party’s official stance, he says that the party does not intend to see such a scenario happen in the country’s political realm.
The politician also suspects that Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto will not make the decision to join the Cabinet and would rather preserve his political standing.
The House member also hopes that Gerindra Party, as the leader of the opposition, will ask ex-members of the coalition to build a constructive opposition.
