TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maj. Gen. (Retired) Kivlan Zen, suspected for illegal possession of firearms, we have his first pretrial hearing today, Monday, July 8. The hearing will be led by Judge Achmad Guntur and he will be accompanied by substitute clerk Agustinus Endro.

"The first hearing of Kivlan Zen's pretrial will be held at 09:00, Jakarta time," South Jakarta District Court spokesman Achmad Guntur said on Sunday night, July 7.

Kivlan's legal team filed for pretrial on Thursday, June 20, 2019. His lawyer, Muhammad Yuntri, said that naming his client as a suspect was not the right decision.

Kivlan's other lawyer, Hendri Badri, said there were two violations allegedly committed by the police—starting from his client's arrest all the and detention. However, Hendri was reluctant to elaborate, saying "it's not the time to reveal it yet."

Kivlan Zen has been a suspect in the case of illegal possession of firearms since May 29. He is also suspected for treason.

The retired TNI officer is also linked to the plan to assassinate four national figures by six suspects who had been already been arrested. Two of them are Tajudin and Iwan Kurniawan; both former TNI personnel. The police also revealed that Kivlan Zen gave money to buy rifles and ordered the killing of four national figures.
