TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Businesses joined in Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) heartily welcomed the Constitutional Court (MK) verdict on the 2019 presidential election dispute that concluded the victory of Jokowi - Ma’ruf Amin as the elected president and vice president for 2019-2024. Thus, the latter would resume his administration for a second term.
“Yes, we are glad this is over and we can move forward. So we now know what to do in the future,” said Kadin deputy head Shinta Widjaja Kamdani when reached in Jakarta, Thursday, June 27.
Shinta explained the businesses have already understood many policies that are ongoing and would be implemented as the President would continue the administration.
According to Shinta, Kadin had delivered recommendations to the government for improvements in a few sectors, such as employment and taxation. “On how we can create a conducive business climate to attract export and investment, as well as industrialization ahead,” she said.
As to overcome trade deficit, Shinta went on, Indonesia must observe the current declining global economy. “This external factor plays an important role. There is a drop in export, while we still depend on imports, this is hard,” she said.
Kadin hoped the economy team in Jokowi’s second term would be filled by professionals in their respective sectors. “But the main factor is coordination and implementation,” Shinta concluded.
