TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The New Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) began operating fully before the Eid holidays. Many passengers booked tickets for flights to and from the airport, but some were mistaken and found themselves going to the wrong airport.

Not realizing they were supposed to have departed from YIA, and not carefully reading the airport codes on their booking itineraries, around five passengers went to Adisucipto Airport instead.

Agus Pandu Purnama, general manager at Angkasa Pura I Yogyakarta, said that the passengers could not make the time to get on board their actual flights because it takes 45 minutes of a train ride to go from one airport to the other.

He reminded passengers to carefully look at the airport codes on their boarding passes, YIA is for the new airport, and JOG is for Adisucipto.

During the Eid holidays, Adisutjipto International Airport saw a 73-percent passengers' surge. The highest traffic was on the third day of Eid with 24,963 passengers.
