TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Tax Directorate General called on taxpayers to fulfill obligations on their own directly to perception bank or post office in the wake of the discovery of tax embezzlement committed by notaries that caused Rp5 billion in the state loss.

Three notaries were declared guilty in a trial at Cibinong District Court, Monday, June 10. The fraud not only harmed the country but also taxpayers.

“There was an element of fraud against transactor, seller, and buyer,” said the office head of Tax Directorate General of West Java III region, Catur Rini Widosari, in Cibinong District Court.

Therefore, Catur appealed to the public to pay their taxes themselves. If people are willing to leave the payment of income tax under PPh Article 4(2) via a third party, they have to check the payment status received by the state or not through a nearby tax office.

“If people find difficulties, they can contact the nearest tax office,” Catur added.

As reported earlier, Cibinong District Court found three employees of Land Deed Official (PPAT) Makbul Suhada guilty of harming the state income at some Rp5 billion from the tax sector.

The three notaries were Tulisno who was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months imprisonment and a fine of Rp5 billion which can be replaced with 5 years in jail as well as Achmar Muzamil and Daldiri alias Masno both sentenced to two years and 6 months imprisonment and a fine of Rp5 billion which can be replaced with 4 months in jail.

The three were charged for not submitting the final PPh at 2.5 percent per land sale transaction to Tax DG even though they issued the tax payment letters (SSP) as a tax payment proof to taxpayers.

“The notary public deliberately released and or used SSP that was not based on the real transaction,” Catur said.
