Joko Driyono Trial Adjourned, No Witness

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trial of the alleged evidence tampering related to football match fixing syndicate, which brought Joko Driyono as the main suspect, was cancelled today. The trial cannot proceed because the witness who supposed to testify was unable to be present.

"The witness cannot be present because of having duties on a certain location. It so happens the witness is from the Metro Jaya Police," said District Attorney Sigit Hendradi in the trial on Thursday, may 9, 2019.

Presiding Judge Kartim Haerudin decided to adjourn the trial, which will be resumed on May 28, 2019.

"After the 28th of May, the trial will be held twice a week. To expedite the case," Kartim explained.

Previously, duringtheinitialtrial, theDistrictAttorneyindictedJokoDriyonowithArticle 363 (4) point 3 and 4 of theCriminalCode; Article 235 in conjunction to Article 231 andArticle 55 (1) point 1 of theCriminalCode; Article 235 in conjunction to Article 233 andArticle 55 (1) point 1 of theCriminalCode. "Thesentence is sevenyears of imprisonment," saidSigitHendradi.

Joko Driyono was alleged with evidence tampering with the intention to obstruct the investigation toward the match fixing case. During that time, Joko was the acting Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association. Joko was suspected to have taken a Digital Video Recorder of a CCTV, and one laptop to hide his previous crimes. Joko is said to be assisted with two of his men, Muhammad Mardani Morgot and Herwindyo.
