Indonesians Overseas Favor Jokowi in Presidential Election

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Election Commission (KPU) has completed the process of vote recapitulation of the 2019 general elections in 93 out of 130 regions overseas. Based on the collected data so far, Joko Widodo or Jokowi - Ma’ruf Amin prevailed in the majority of foreign countries.

The recapitulation process was attended by the Election Supervisory Board, the Overseas Elections Committee (PPLN), and representatives of the election participant in two opened, separated rooms situated in the KPU headquarter in a bid to expedite the count.

The incumbent candidate gained high support from Indonesians in Taipei, Taiwan, and Kinabalu, Malaysia at over 71,000 votes, while Prabowo - Sandiaga led in several Middle East countries.

The KPU predicted that the recapitulation of voting overseas would be finished today, May 9, considering only 37 PPLN remained from initially targeted on Wednesday, May 8.

According to the real count by the KPU tabulation as of Thursday, May 9, at 05:15 Jakarta time via its voting count system or Situng, the incumbent is still leading the presidential election by around 13.9 million votes. The real count came from 73.13 percent of incoming votes.
