TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry's Director General of Land Transportation, Budi Setiyadi, said that toll road is one of the sectors that contribute to state revenues. According to the Ministry's records, tollways provide revenue of Rp5.34 trillion per year.

In a written statement issued Wednesday, May 1, Budi said that the government is maximizing the use of two toll roads; Trans Java and Trans Sumatra toll. Both are considered to be profitable, both materially and non-materially.

The Trans Java Toll Road, which spans 933 kilometers and has 22 sections, has 205 kilometers more to complete.

Freeways become a contributing sector for state revenues due to its ability to take up the traffic of millions of people on a daily basis. On average, toll roads see 1.7 million vehicles per day.
