TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Youth and Sports Ministry has denied rumors that Imam Nahrawi would resign as youth and sports minister on Tuesday night.

"The rumor is totally unfounded," Secretary of Youth and Sports Minister Gatot Dewa Broto said.

Earlier in the day, the Corruption Court questioned Nahrawi as a witness on the performance of his personal assistant Miftahul Ulum and in the case of bribery related to grants for the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).

Ulum has allegedly paid money to top officials of KONI for the smooth disbursement of grants. Imam Nahrawi said he has been acquainted with Miftahul since they studied at the same university.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also arrested the ministry's deputy IV Mulyana for allegedly receiving a bribe from KONI Secretary General Ending Fuad Hamidi and KONI Treasurer Jhony E Awuy.
