TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The incumbent presidential candidate Joko Widodo said he was unsatisfied with the vote result they achieved in the recent presidential election. He said the number was under the set target.

"Yes, it's under our target," he said while laughing during an exclusive interview with Tempo at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Saturday, April 26.

The man who is also known as Jokowi said that his campaign team targetted to garner 58-62 percent votes. "That's the lowest and highest target," he said.

In several electability surveys done before the election, Jokowi-Ma'ruf ticket was predicted to defeat the opponent, Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno, with 56-63 percent votes.

However, the quick count post the election showed different results. Pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia stated that the presidential candidate number gained 54.58 percent votes, while Indo Barometer survey agency recorded that the candidate bagged 54.35 percent votes.

The vote result was not much different from the 2014 presidential election. At that time, Joko Widodo who was paired with Jusuf Kalla obtained 53.15 percent votes.

Widodo also viewed that the process of 2019 Indonesia elections was way too long. The eight-month campaign period was deemed exhausting.

"Even I don't feel tired but it exhausted everyone, including the people," Joko Widodo said.
