Jokowi Team Miffed by Monstrous Hoax Attacks, says Moeldoko

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting as the Deputy Chairman of Jokowi`s campaign team (TKN), Moeldoko said that they were overwhelmed by the numerous hoaxes aimed at the incumbent in the 2019 general elections.
“Yes, affected areas include Aceh, West Sumatra, Riau, West Java, and West Nusa Tenggara,” said the former TNI commander at the Presidential Palace Complex on Thursday, April 18.

Despite having anticipated such attacks, the TKN was still unable to counter the false information that has spread like wildfire in the areas mentioned above. Especially hoaxes related to religious issues.
“The flow of disinformation is so strong there, it’s difficult to breach the areas despite talking about programs,” said Moeldoko.
Furthermore, Moeldoko said that Jokowi’s decision to have former Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI) Chairman Ma’ruf Amin as his running-mate was proven inadequate to counter hoaxes.
