Seven Political Parties Likely Fail to Go to Parliament: Pollster

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Seven political parties would likely not be able to have a seat in the Indonesian Parliament as they failed to meet the parliamentary threshold of 4 percent, according to a quick count conducted by Indo Barometer pollster.

The parties are Garuda Party, Berkarya Party, Persatuan Indonesia (Perindo) Party, Solidaritas Indonesia Party (PSI), Hati Nurani Rakyat (Hanura) Party, Bulan Bintang (PBB) Party, and Keadilan dan Persatuan Indonesia (PKPI) Party.

Indo Barometer conducted quick count in 1,200 polling stations across the country, and vote results were obtained from 915 polling stations, or 76.25 percent of the total, according to Executive Director of Indo Barometer M Qodari on Wednesday.

Based on the quick count results, Perindo collected 2.65 percent, Berkarya 2.13 percent, PSI 2.1 percent, Hanura 1.6 percent, PBB 0.83 percent, Garuda 0.59 percent, and PKPI 0.25 percent.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) bagged 19.72 percent, Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) 13.25 percent, Golkar 11.73 percent, and Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) 9.87 percent.

The National Awakening Party (PKB) won 8.53 percent votes, National Democratic Party (NasDem) 8.01 percent, Democratic Party (PD) 7.39 percent, National Mandate Party (PAN) 6.95 percent, and United Development Party (PPP) 4.4 persen.

Indonesia organized simultaneous legislative and presidential elections throughout the country on April 17, 2019, which is considered the biggest ad the most complex one-single day election in the world.
