TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate number 01 Joko Widodo (Jokowi) claimed that the government had responded quickly to the development of e-sport.

Speaking in the fifth round of the presidential debate, Jakarta, Saturday, he said that the government's rapid response was to facilitate the development of technological trends by building comfortable ecosystems and capable infrastructures.

"We as a government must respond quickly to the changes that occur. New goods enter so quickly including Artificial Intelligent (AI), Internet of Things, big data, virtual reality to finance such as bitcoin and cryptocurrenc. Young people want to be gamers," Jokowi said.

Therefore, the government is building digital infrastructures namely the Palapa Ring broadband, and 4G networks.

He said that the digital economy had a large potential with growth reaching 25-30 percent.

"The economic value of this sector is growing rapidly. In 2017, the turnover was worth Rp11 trillion to Rp12 trillion with a growth rate of 25-30 percent," he said.

Therefore, Jokowi assessed that the potential of the economy should not be missed. The government, he said, must respond to existing changes.

"The budgets of advertising are also now heading in that direction in a very large number. It must also be seen and watched out. We should respond to it with the right regulations," Jokowi concluded.
