Survey: Jokowi-Ma'ruf Popular Among Millennials

TEMPO.CO, South Tangerang - Presidential candidate Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his running mate Ma'ruf Amin are more popular among millennials than their rival Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno. The conclusion was made by survey agency IndexPolitica following a result of a poll they released.

The survey suggested that Jokowi-Ma'ruf have 49.79 percent electability, winning over Prabowo-Sandiaga's 40.24 percent.

"The survey was done from March 22 to April 2, 2019, using a multistage random sampling with 2,300 respondents," IndexPolitica executive director Denny Charter said on Tuesday, April 9.

Millennial voters accounted for 42.67 percent of the respondents. Denny said that most of them are voting for Jokowi after taking into account the development progress throughout the incumbent's term, among others.

They also see Joko Widodo as a "humble figure who is free of corruption."

Meanwhile, a poll by Media Survei Nasional (Median) released in January showed that Prabowo-Sandi are more popular among high shcool and university graduates; winning 58 percent over Jokowi-Ma'ruf's 35.9 percent.
