"We were very surprised when told that Ma'ruf had been taken to the hospital. That is clearly a hoax. It's outrageous," Jokowi-Ma'ruf media coordinator Monang Sinaga told Tempo , Monday, April 1.

Monang said Ma'ruf just landed at Djuanda Airport in Sidoarjo, and is heading towards a campaign area in SUmenep. He said that the vice president's candidate is fit, healthy, "and ready to campaign and greet everyone."
Stories were shared online that Ma'ruf had fallen ill and taken to the hospital unconscious. Given his age, this rumor had been circulating more than a couple times.
