TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The media team of Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin denied rumors that Amin has fallen ill. The false information had been spread online through WhatsApp chat groups.

"We were very surprised when told that Ma'ruf had been taken to the hospital. That is clearly a hoax. It's outrageous," Jokowi-Ma'ruf media coordinator Monang Sinaga told Tempo, Monday, April 1.

Monang said Ma'ruf just landed at Djuanda Airport in Sidoarjo, and is heading towards a campaign area in SUmenep. He said that the vice president's candidate is fit, healthy, "and ready to campaign and greet everyone."

Stories were shared online that Ma'ruf had fallen ill and taken to the hospital unconscious. Given his age, this rumor had been circulating more than a couple times.

Ma'ruf Amin's daughter Siti Ma'rifah also rebutted the rumor and said her father is doing well. "I have no idea where that hoax came from," she told Tempo.
