TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Golkar Party spokesman form Bekasi City Council (DPRD) Syahrul Ramadhan believes that incumbent presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will obtain majority votes in the area and explained the number of reasons why.

“The influence of a Golkar DPD (regional representative council) speaker and Bekasi Mayor has an effect, more so the infrastructure factor is felt by Bekasi residents,” Syahrul claims.

Golkar Party is one of the main backers of Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin upon running for the 2019 presidential election.

Syahrul’s argument on the potent influence of Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi, who’s also Golkar Party chairman, is based on his success in the 2018 regional elections which saw Effendi obtain 68 percent of votes.

“The success in the 2018 regional election is the main variable and of course Rahmat Effendi’s figure compared to the political party backing him,” said Syahrul who further argues that the numerous public service facilities initiated under Jokowi administration will aid the incumbent’s presidential candidacy.
