TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has promised to expand infrastructure in South Sulawesi if he is reelected as president.

"Just now, I whispered to Mr JK (Jusuf Kalla) that a railway connecting Makassar to Parepare has just started to be constructed. Is it right? It will give a major economic impact on South Sulawesi," Jokowi said while speaking in an open campaign held in Karebosi Square, South Sulawesi, on Sunday.

The Government has also constructed Makassar New Port, which is a major seaport in eastern Indonesian region, according to him.

Jokowi also mentioned that Indonesia's first wind power plants were constructed in Jeneponto and Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) .

"Do you agree if the plants to be expanded?" Jokowi asked the audience.

The major projects were expected to create more job opportunities, he added.

He asked his supporters to go to polling stations in white shirts on April 17, 2019.

"I should remind us to go to the polling stations in white shirts because the (presidential and vice presidential) candidates that you are going to vote, are also wearing white shirts. White is us and we are white," Jokowi said.

Indonesia will organize simultaneous legislative and presidential elections on April 17, 2019. Jokowi and challenger Prabowo Subianto are set to go head-to-head in the race.
