TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla or JK said that in addition to economic development, unemployment rate could also be one of the indicators of a country’s development.

“The lower unemployment rate, the more developed a country is and the higher its income as well,” said Jusuf Kalla on Friday, March 22, in the 2019 Talent Fest and Job Market at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

Kalla explained that infrastructure development, investment, and the quality improvement of human resources through education and training were necessary to generate employment.

“Indonesia has enormous natural resources, but with all of that, how our people can have broader job opportunities by benefiting investment,” he added.

Moreover, Kalla continued, with the current rapid development of technology and industry, skills in technology must be advanced, and that industry revolution 4.0 must be in line with the entrepreneur revolution.

“So such an event to gather markets, workers, and entrepreneurs must be regularly held to reach prosperity for this nation,” JK concluded.

The 2019 Talent Fest and Job Market, which is held two days on March 22-23, 2019, provides a total of 18,148 job vacancies and 1,242 positions from 157 companies in various sectors.
